POST 1330; MAY 24, 2014; LEWISTOWN, ILLINOIS

RUSHVILLE, where we stayed last night is some 30 miles from the town of LEWISTOWN, our objective for today.

Downtown RUSHVILLE.

Seems to be common for towns in this region to have ornate Sidewalk Clocks.

Please say HELLO to BOB, who has set up a display of new tomato plants, deemed surplus to Bob's GARDEN.  Bob plants a garden each year to offer the produce to needy residents.

At 90 years old, Bob has it together.

ASTORIA is about half way to LEWISTOWN.  Drove to ASTORIA, parked and walked back toward RUSHVILLE.

Courthouse decorated for Memorial Day festivities.

A Natural Gas Pipeline has been set in it's trench and is currently be covered over.  A great deal of effort is being expended to restore the land to original - or better - landscaped  condition.  I attempted to engage three different supervisor types in conversation, but did not succeed.

Drove to LEWISTOWN, parked and walked back toward ASTORIA.  Will visit downtown in the morning before walking toward PEORIA, some 40 miles distant.

VFW - VETERANS of Foreign Wars - invited me to use their WI-FI to create today's blog.  ALL has gone well.

Will overnight in the parking lot of the COUNTRYSIDE Restaurant, where I enjoyed an excellent $3.99 breakfast of eggs, hash browns, and toast after returning from the second walk.

Will walk toward PEORIA in the morning, but plan to stop short from entering the city.  Tomorrow is Sunday with Monday being Memorial Day.  Perhaps will bypass downtown, look for a Shopping Center to purchase new shoes on Monday.

All being OK, may continue walking Illinois 24 toward  the city of OTTAWA on Illinois Highway 23.  Illinois 23 will take us to DeKALB and Sister Carol.
