DAY 29 – PACIFIC CITY, NESKOWIN, LINCOLN CITY, OREGON

At 4:00 pm yesterday, crawled into the feathers and did not wake until 5:00 am this morning…I WAS POOPED. Was not sure how I would do today, but after the usual breakfast, and waiting for daylight, gave it a shot.

SPIA was parked about a half mile off US 101. At 6:45 am, started walking BACK to Pacific City.

Was overwhelmed by the hundreds upon hundreds of Canadian Geese. As I walked along US 101 to get to the Pacific City cut-off, at least 500 geese lifted into the air all at one time and flew just above my head…hope the photographs turned out because it was a sight to behold..

Walked on to Pacific City and BACK to SPIA…Geese were rising by flight after flight, all heading North…I would suppose to the Arctic where they spend the Summer…thought it is a bit early for the Northerly Flights, but with the weather changes we have experienced in the Pacific Northwest the past few years, things are moving up a month or two…previous Bellingham 100 + mph February winds now come in November.

Arriving back at SPIA – a walk of 10 miles round trip -, drove to a view point 4 miles South and parked. Walked back North on US 101 down the mountain to where SPIA was parked last night…and BACK up to SPIA…- 8 miles round trip.

Must have recovered quickly overnight from the stressful day yesterday, because I was not at all tired passing by SPIA…continued DOWN the mountain into the next valley and up and down the next two hills …then BACK to SPIA…- 10 miles round trip.

Drove SPIA down the mountain, South on US 101, only to find I had walked to within ¼ mile of the community of NESKOWIN, OREGON. Parked SPIA in a State Day-Use Lot, and walked South on US 101 up a prodigious hill for 3 miles and Back to SPIA…-6 miles more.

Then drove SPIA to the bottom of that prodigious hill, parked, and walked into LINCOLN CITY, OREGON…and BACK to SPIA, another 8 miles…

Was on a roll today…feel fantastic…no injuries…no pain…\\Drove into Lincoln City to the LOGAN ROAD RV PARK, a “Good SAM” Park. In Denver, when I purchased SPIA, I had the foresight to become a member of the GOOD SAM RV CLUB…it allows 5-star accommodations for $31.80 per night…

SPIA is now settled into Space 11…dirty clothes are being washed ($1.00 / load) and Brucie Baby will get a thorough cleaning shortly…think I must be pretty bad because I began smelling myself on today’s walks.

OK…looks like 40 miles for the day…am walking MUCH faster than 4 miles per hour…up AND down hill; today hardly breaking a sweat and not the least bit winded…I don’t know where this all comes from, but for now, I’m enjoying every step.

Have taken a few minutes to shake out SPIA carpets, sweep out the entrance steps, and will fill the Propane Bottle shortly.

In the meantime, walking is finished for the day…must add up miles walked.

Pics are not so great today as US 101 was mostly inland…’cept for them beautiful Gooses…alright… “Geeese”.

Please allow me some slack…does get a bit boring and lonely out here day after day…but at least, I’m alive and doing what no other 76 year old has ever done…please just let me continue….I’ve a long way to go…

Been considering what to do after Key West…am setting my mind to start in Lisbon…walk Europe, Balkans, Crimea, Iran, Afganistan, Kyszerkistan (sp?), and follow Marco Polo’s Silk Road to Beijing…then North through Russia Siberia to the Bearing Sea…then South along the ALCAN HIGHWAY back to the Peace Arch in Blaine, Washington…

A TRUE CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE…all on foot.

I will need sponsorship and tons of good fortune…but feel my body and spirit is up to the task…

Dreamers conquered the old World…Dreams can conquer the new World.
...Just kidding...but is an interesting thought.

DAILY UPDATE: 40 miles…count 20 miles (no rides for me today)

SEE YOUR IMPACT.ORG: Credit 20 miles @ $0.02 per mile = $0.40 for the day.

Tomorrow is the last day of Month Number One.

What a fantastic journey…am so pleased I have Google and FACEBOOK to share it with YOU.
