DAY 30 – LINCOLN CITY, DEPOE BAY, OREGON

Yesterday's Blog did an unjust reference to the Village of NESKOWIN, OREGON. It was referred to by a number of different spellings...apologize...need to pay closer attention.

Sure is nice having ALL clean and dry clothes. The RV Park has ultra-modern facilities…have yet to find a bit of dust or lint anywhere. Even I am spic and span…abnormal for the past few days climbing and descending hill after hill.

Eva, the Park Manager tells me that US 101 South of Lincoln City is MUCH more severe with its hills, curves and narrow roads. Last night the Storm finally moved in…it has been blowing very hard most of the night…sending SPIA a rocking. The Park sits near the top of a hillside exposed to the Pacific Ocean, so takes the full brunt of weather.

Today is the final day of Month Number One. Believe I will leave SPIA and SAM at the RV Park for my morning walking leg and start walking South…just to see how it is. Cannot stay in an RV Park another night, but might just find a Spot for SPIA in Safeway parking lot…or a wide spot on US 101.

The next town is KERNVILLE, OREGON, about 10 miles South…then comes DEPOE BAY, OREGON, another 10 miles or so. It is 30 miles to NEWPORT, OREGON, where I originally planned to stay for one week, using my Time Share…that plan fell through yesterday, much to my sorrow. ..SAM considered joining me...it is as it is...but hopefully will not always be.

Now for my oatmeal and this time Ovaltine…dress for the wind, then off to US 101 South,

Wonder what good things Today will bring ???

Returned from my walk to the South end of Lincoln City...took 2.5 hours...a LONG place made up of 5 separate towns (neighborhoods). Upon return to SPIA, discovered that yesterday I damaged SPIA's Roof Top Air conditioner driving under a low hanging branch. Split the cover in several places. Used Duct Tape to repair it...must now put waterproof cloth over that and tape it down securely (same as used on SAM). It is going to start raining in a few minutes...with a very stiff cold wind blowing...hope I can get it repaired in time.

Becoming a bit anxious about what this day is bringing.

My Day is drawing to a close...could edit the above, but will leave it. Did complete the waterproof cloth over the Air Conditioner Cover...is OLD PLASTIC, which cracks very easily..
must be replaced...but for now, hope the repair job keeps the rain out of SPIA.

Today was BLUSTERY...estimate constant winds at over 40 mph with higher gusts...in DEPOE BAY, OREGON, many folks were nearly blown off the walkways...yours truly included

After walking back to SPIA, drove South on US 101 to SILETZ BAY, OREGON and walked the 4 miles back to Lincoln City and back to SPIA. Then moved SPIA to LINCOLN BEACH, OREGON...walked to GLENEDEN BEACH and back to SPIA...moved SPIA one more time to BOILER BAY...and from there, walked into DEPOE BAY, OREGON.

Spent an hour walking end to end Depoe Bay...lots of pics...a cup of Clam Chowder & Salad..then drove to CAPE FOULWEATHER, OREGON, where we will spend the night...In the morning, will walk back DOWN the mountain to Depoe Bay and back...then South on US 101.

DAILY REPORT: Walked 22 miles...count 11 miles

SEE YOUR IMPACT.ORG: Credit 11 miles $ $0.02 per mile = $0.22 for the day.

Took over 100 pics today...will take some time to glean through them for posting.
