BLACK BEAR TAVERN

A Smoky Bar...The Black Bear; three empty beer cans sit before me; Shania sings her heart out on the juke box; Sandy again clobbered her HubbY, Tracy at 8-ball. Im very hungry so munch mini carrots to soak up the booze,

Got a late start this morning finishing computer details of my Company, SAI, and reloading the Van. Got that promised breakfast...and good thing as no more food has come my way today,,,also must take my Heart Meds...Heart attack in 1995 & Doc says miss 2 days & trouble begins...miss 4 days & won't matter any more, Today is day four, so guess I best pop'em down.

Did 29 miles today,,,hitched a ride from Glenns Ferry to Bliss and walked back. Locals said Old US 30 was 18 miles. I-84 sign said 19 miles & freeway is the MORE DIRECT ROUTE. took 6-1/2 hours walking at 4 mph...that comes to 24 miles minimum.

The road was so old, no paint remained on the asphalt.. It wound round desolate sage country , coming out finally following the railroad tracks and Snake River...even so, it took forever as I loaded my brain for five hour walk and naturally, again ran out of water, Picked up two 32 oz POWERADEs and drank them on the spot upon reaching Glenns Ferry.

Then drove to Hagersman, some 8 miles beyond Bliss. Could not get a ride back to Bliss, so walked 4 miles out and back, making the total miles from Bliss to Hagarsman.

Total for the day + / - 30 miles.

Then drove the 19 miles to Buhl...what a nice town.Looking for a place to hole up for the night, chose the Black Bear Tavern. Rewarded with a very secure / private spot, ordered a Keystone Beer...Sandy & Tracy have thrust two more on me...so maybe Meds must wait till Day 5...

We shall See.

If I see tomorrow, will hitch a ride back to Hagarman and walk the19 miles back to The Black Bear..
